Extractions

Extraction is the removal of a diseased, non restorable tooth structure from the jaw bones. Extractions can be either simple or surgical. A simple extraction is typically done with forceps without damaging or removal of surrounding bone and gum tissue. However a surgical extraction may consist of reflecting gum tissue and or removing surrounding bone to gain access to the diseased, broken tooth structure.

Extractions are a part of minor Oral Surgery and it is critical to follow pre and post operative instructions given by your dentist to prevent complications such as prolonged bleeding, pain and swelling.
In such an event you should seek professional help immediately.

Impacted teeth are usually un-erupted/partially erupted teeth stuck in the bone due to insufficient room, or mal-alignment, and are typically treated by Oral Surgeons.
